Only yesterday a friend asked me this question, so I thought that this would be an interesting topic for my next blog post. First, let’s see why your PC needs support at all.
Like all kinds of electrical machinery, computers too, need maintenance from time to time, albeit it is of a different kind. Maintenance for computers means steps taken to ensure that your PC runs in perfect condition even after years of its purchase. I’m sure I don’t have to justify why that is no necessary, but in case you are wondering why is support needed, here goes. PCs are often infected with viruses, malware and spyware, that tend to slow it down, cause it to function improperly, and in extreme cases, even cause the hard disk to crash. This is why you need expert assistance to make sure that if such a problem arises, you have help at hand.
Coming to the types, there are two of them; On-site and
online computer support. The former refers to you signing an agreement with a company that agrees to provide you with technical support in the form of personnel that will come to your home/office whenever you notify them of any problem. This is usually a more expensive alternative, and also has its share of disadvantages. The first one is that you need to wait for the technician to arrive, and even if your need is urgent, there’s nothing much you can do. Also, some areas are not covered by such support companies, so in case you have a laptop and are out on a remote location, you might not get support at all. Timing is also of essence here, and you can expect very little help in the late hours, and expensive one at that, if it is available.
Coming to online computer support, it is a more recent, much cheaper, and far more convenient alternative. A contract is signed between the two parties, wherein the support company agrees to provide you support via the internet for your PC issues. There is no need for you to wait for the technical personnel to come to the premises, all it takes is for you to have an internet connection, and your problems will be solved ASAP. Cheaper costs, faster support and all this without moving an inch from your location. Is there really anything else you need!
So now that you have seen both sides of the story, I’m sure you can see why online computer support is the better option, and why is it being preferred over the other more traditional approach.
